Likewise, a small group of people question the projects affordability and co mmunity benefit. However, desp ite our notable outreach efforts related to this project dating back to 2013, there has been some opposition claiming to not have heard or been a part of the development outreach process. In fact, UrbanCore has been an active developer (market rate and affordable housing) in the Bay Area for over twenty-five years and has always welcomed the process of notifying and engaging the communit ies in which it builds.

Our intensions have always been to inform the community of the project and to gain their support. Last, we will also attend the Measure DD meeting on March 16 to present the project update. Likewise, we have reached out to several local business and community organizations and individuals who have offered to write letters of support for the proposed project. In fact, we have prepared petitions in five different languages and identified five specific locations within several neighborhoods to make sure we are in the face of those that matter the most – our community. In addition to the work we have completed to date, we also are preparing to complete efforts on the ground by petitioning local residents. More specifically, we have included the following information to demonstrate what we have accomplished thus far: Equally important, we feel that all of the methods implemented have amounted to considerable efforts to ensure complete transpare ncy and community engagement. Over the past 18 months, our project team has worked diligently with City staff to create contact lists and utilize different methods of communication to inform local residents of the project spanning from physic al meetings to utilizing social media. The information provided consists of past correspondence compiled throughout the process of not only ensuring the community was made aware of our project, but also our efforts to gain their design input and support.
